The power of creating a personal routine

  • Morning routines and rituals are a great way to set yourself up for success on a day-to-day basis. 
  • They say that it takes 21 days to create a habit, and with 7 days left in this course, it’s a great opportunity to develop a routine that will have a positive impact on the quality of your day. 
  • A 5% change in your life, over the course of time, can be very powerful. Adjust your morning by 5% by adding a 10-15 minute morning routine, and see the impact on how the rest of your day progresses. 
  • Feeling the full impact of creating these routines takes two major components, an intent and an action. 
  • We can have an intent to be healthy, but if there’s no action, the intent falls flat and we really don’t accomplish anything. Without intent and purpose, action often doesn’t have staying power.

 

Joy’s 20 Minute Morning Routine 

  • When first waking up in the morning, Joy likes to start the day with a glass of water with either apple cider vinegar or lemon. This is hydrating, and kickstarts the metabolism. 
  • Another tool in Joy’s daily practice is Qi Gong, an ancient Chinese mind-body practice used for physical and mental wellbeing. 
  • Another favorite part of Joy’s morning routine is oil pulling. Oil pulling is a millenia-old Ayurvedic practice that originated in India. Oil pulling is used to detoxify the mouth, by pulling bacteria and toxins out of the mouth. 
  • To begin oil pulling, put a spoonful of coconut oil in your mouth immediately after waking up in the morning, and swish it around in your mouth for up to 20 minutes. Do not swallow. 
  • Oil pulling is believed to pull bacteria and toxins from the body and mouth. 
  • Coconut oil is antiviral, antibacterial, and antimicrobial. Coconut oil binds with bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms to draw them out of the mouth. 
  • Coconut oil also contains lauric acid, which is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. Lauric acid, a medium-chain fatty acid, interacts with the cell membrane, assisting in the release of bacteria.

The mouth is a mirror for the body. Today, be a detective for yourself and examine the meridian mouth chart to see if any of your cavities, fillings, root canals or pain are associated with physical issues you are experiencing–you may be surprised with what you find! Look at your tongue–does it have lines, cracks or bumps? 

Verify by coordinating these findings with the meridian clock chart.
