The Lab: Kava Kava Sleep Tonic Recipe with Jason Wrobel

We filmed this short behind-the-scenes recipe with chef Jason Wrobel while working on his Commune course, Good Mood Food about the interplay between nutrition and emotional health.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons dried kava kava root powder
  • 2 cups hot chamomile tea, lightly steeped
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon organic virgin coconut oil
  • 2-3 tablespoons monk fruit crystals, or to taste 
  • 1 dropper passionflower extract
  • Pinch sea salt

Directions: Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender for 20-30 seconds until very smooth and creamy. Adjust the amount of sweetener to your preferred taste, as Kava Kava powder can have a bitter taste and slightly numbs the tongue.
