The Lab: ”Sorry for the Butter Stains. Please Vote.”

Oct 25, 2020

Civic engagement is one of those lofty terms we like to throw around, but how does that phrase root in reality?

Last Saturday at Commune Topanga, civic engagement looked like we decided to tackle both a homework assignment and an art project while having a tea party.

Hunched over her voter letter, steaming mug by her side, Micah wrote:

Dear voter, you should vote because I am 10 years old and can’t vote yet. But my life will be affected but your vote.

P.S. Sorry for the butter stains on this letter. We made scones.

Bonus points for honesty? Or negative points for the bourgeois pastry reference?

I guess we’ll see if Florida turns blue.

How are you helping get out the vote? Let us know in the comments below.

(FYI: The window for letter writing has passed but there’s still time to make calls and write texts to voters. Visit our voting resource page for links.)
